As you may already know, I have declared my candidacy for the North Carolina House of Representatives, District 68, Western Union County. The road ahead will be both challenging and exciting. Over the next several weeks and months, I will work hard to meet, listen to and learn from many of my neighbors and make many new friends.
I will need all of the help that I can get. In addition to advice
and counsel, I need help putting up signs and ensuring that they
come down on a timely basis. I need everyone to contact their
neighbors and friends to ask them to vote and to please consider
voting for me on primary election day, May 4, and, if successful,
again in the general election on November 2. I especially need
your help to work the polls on Primary Election Day.
I will attend every gathering where appropriate to meet as many
people as possible and to learn from everyone. As you know, name
recognition is a key element to election. Admittedly, I have a
mountain to climb. I will go anywhere at anytime possible. My
phone number and contact information are above. I will return calls,
emails and inquiries as quickly as I can.
My four key issues are the economy, public safety, transportation
and education. I will make available on my website
details of my thoughts and attitudes about these and other issues.
Equally as important is money. I expect that a good campaign will
cost $15,000-$20,000. That’s a lot of money! Signs, bumper
stickers, call lists, newspaper ads, travel, filing fees,
mailings and more are costly. Consequently, I need to raise money
to pay for all this. Any amount that you would consider donating to
“Horn for NC House” would be greatly appreciated and carefully
applied to this effort. No one feels comfortable asking their
friends for money, but it goes with the territory. I repeat, any
amount is greatly appreciated. I will file campaign finance reports
in accordance with the law so that everyone can see from where I
get my money and how it is being spent.
So, it is volunteers, money and advice that I seek. Call me, email
me, write to me, stop me on the street; let me know your thoughts,
give me suggestions, point me in a direction. I will do my best to
represent your interests, exercise good judgment and be responsive.
Be a little patient with me, but not too much and don’t let me off
the hook on anything.
Thank you for reading this, thank you for any help you can give
me, and I look forward to seeing you personally in the very near
future.
